Mary and Margaret are both experienced clinicians with a background in a variety of Health and Education settings and have helped children with a wide range of communication difficulties including language delays and disorders, speech sound productions difficulties (including Childhood Apraxia of Speech). We have a particular passion for assisting students who are experiencing difficulties in acquiring literacy skills. Mary also assesses and treats adults with language, literacy and learning difficulties.
We are both Certified Practising Members of Speech Pathology Australia and undertake regular professional development.
We have a large focus on literacy, as we believe that being able to read is the entry to a world of knowledge, entertainment and connectivity. Literacy is a language based skill which needs to be taught. Each child brings to the reading and writing process their own set of pre literacy skills of which speech and language is a key set. We endeavour to work with children and families to help develop a strong base in speech and language on which they can build their literacy skills.
